Premise: Criminal activity, simple enough? Unlike most communities of the same theme, this community does not center around an organization on a mission. The scenes written by each team is their take on the same exact scenario posted by the mod. Yet, each character can interact with whomever they choose and may also write entries and scenes unrelated to the scenarios given. The liaison will post a scenario and each writing team of two will then scene that scenario however they choose. There is no limit to whom your character can be whether if they are a con artist, ex-FBI agent, serial killer, gangster, mob boss, etc. Details of the heist will be given in order to aid each team, though they may be tweaked to some degree and that would need to be mentioned when the scene is posted. Otherwise, anything outside of the scenario is free game as long as no member within this community is murdered and both parties approve serious details.

Rules: Typical rules apply. Don't cross OOC issues with IC issues. Talk with your writing partner about serious issues as far as lines are concerned. This is a pretty dramatic game so clearance from the mod is not needed. Activity is based on scenes submitted. If your partner isn't around, please let the mod know and local another partner via a post in the OOC community. Comments and feedback on scenes are encouraged but do not steal complete ideas for a scene of your own.

Dedication: This community is for everybody who has said in the past week, month or year that they just want to write. All they want to do is scene something and not worry about the other dramatics that communities tend to bring on. Anything can happen within this group of writers, there is literally no limit on what you can write. Romantic lines, friendships and enemies can be discussed within the ooc community or you may just write with someone - get a feel and see what develops.

A detailed FAQ is posted below ↓

What is the objective of this game?
The game objective is to simply write, a desire many role-players have expressed. Yet, how often can one write domestic scenes before boredom begins to sink into the line? We write for the excitement, the challenge and the fun. And at times, we even learn from a particular storyline something we didn’t know before. With this community, we wanted to offer something out of the ordinary. Criminal activity definitely offers that extraordinary aspect of writing because anything can happen. Yet, relationships and socializing is still in tact, but with a certain intensity due to the nature of the lives of the characters, mainly the environment in which they work.

How does scening the scenarios work exactly?
Each member may join with a writing partner or join as a single. Whether if you join single or partnered, you may and are encouraged to scene with others at any given time. This is a group effort, but when writers scene the scenario given, it's only the two writers and their characters – no one else from the community is involved. The writers decide when they will fly out to the location and that is when the scene begins. Upon completion of the task is when the scene ends. Each scene will be posted in the OOC journal then linked to the scenario posted in the main community. This counts as your activity. A writer may participate in as many scenes as they believe they can handle. Posting an open thread is also allowed.

Can I just scene the scenarios?
That is perfectly fine. It is not a requirement to scene daily activities or anything else outside of the scenarios.

What if I have an idea for a scenario?
All ideas need to be posted (here) for review by the mods. There is no promise each idea submitted will be used, but the mods will try their best to use each general idea sent in for an upcoming heist.

Is this a community or a PSL?
There is no real solid answer for this. It would lean towards being both. It's a community with the sub-communities supporting it. The members within it are welcome to write with other people but that isn't a requirement. Writers should be commenting one another's journal entries whether it be a reflection or simply a song as well as giving thoughts and opinions on scenes and threads posted.

Do I have to join with someone? Please explain team vs single.
No you do not have to join with a partner. You will simply put in your application that you are a single and may write with whomever you choose. This option is available to everyone in the community. A team is usually two writers that want a psl or who are bringing a psl into the community. Information on whether or not they are up for scening scenarios with others is located at the member directory. If you are a single, please refer to this directory to help aid you or simply post a request within the OOC community asking for someone to write with.

What are the different journals and how are they used?
[info]incriminating The main community that is viewable by all, but that only the mod may post in. The scenario and all its details will be posted there. Within that post, a writer from each team will link to the scene or thread of their completed scenario.
[info]uncovered The OOC journal is to be used by every member. In addition to posting scenario scenes, the OOC journal will also be used to search for writing partners, inform of a leave of absence and threading. Threading is used in the case that someone does not wish to scene. You may also brainstorm or use this community for other related activity. For example, discussing another team’s scene that you enjoyed reading.
[info]yourjournal Character journals will be used for lyrical posts, random musings and regular journal entries. Journal entries are optional though we hope you use them.

Are holds and challenges accepted?
No. We do not accept holds because we are aware of the choices out there when it comes to games of any nature. Therefore, the chance that your desired face is available in this particular game is quite high. Such is the case with challenges: there are endless faces to choose from. We only require the person to still be actually alive in real life.

Is there an age limit on characters?
All characters should be at least seventeen and older. Please make sure if the character is younger the background/bio reflects the circumstance in why they are joining this group of people. Writers should be at least eighteen and older simply for the reason that a lot of adult issues will be dealt with in this community and maturity is a must. Now it is common knowledge that some writers whom are under the age of eighteen are more mature then older people, that is why age is not asked. Just be sure that your writing reflects maturity and realism at all times.

Is there a limit on how many characters I may play?
No, at the present moment there is no limit. Feel free to take on as many characters as you think you can handle - remember all characters will need to be kept active.

How do I join?
Fill out the application and submit it within the appropriate post (here). Please remember that you need to apply with the journal you will be using for your character. A bio for your character also needs to be visible to this journal. It does not have to be extremely detailed, just their past work experience to give us a feel for how they grew up in the world. All journals and aim screen names need to be in character.

I have a question that was not answered in the FAQ. Where do I direct this?
Feel free to send the mod any questions or concerns you have via the screened post located (here).

The following information is written in detail for the applicants having trouble understanding some terms, rules and requests from the mod:

  • Journals HAVE to be in character, meaning that they are the character's name. First and/or last initial, first and/or last name, etc. And out of character journal will not be accepted. We will be leniant and allow minimal extra words and underscores, but try to stick with just the character's name.*

  • AIM screen names should have the character's name in it. Other words are allowed.*

  • Your character can live in any city throughout the world. When a heist is posted, it will state which city your character has to travel to. That is when you begin your scene/thread with your writer or an open thread for anybody to comment.

  • Your character may have any type of background but the overall idea of this community is for everybody to roleplay the scenarios given. A scenario is simply an outline or plot. These specific scenarios focus on what is referred to in the world of crime as "jobs" and "heists", which can involve several aspects. We'll try to make each one different for variety. Also, there will be missions that will involve espionage, which is the act of spying in order to attain information, an object, or even a person.

  • Scening - that is writing in third person via aim.

  • Threading - just like scening but within the OOC journal community. You would post the start of the scene, then someone would comment with the next part. Just like aim. Please state whether it's private for you and your writing partner, or open for anybody in the community to reply to.

  • First journal entry needs to be in the character's journal before you apply. It can be a regular entry or a detailed bio. A bio is preferred.*

  • Don't forget to request membership to the communities.

* Mandatory, or else your application will be deleted.
